Stunning villages and a grand cathedral

As we wait for the van to be repaired we decided to head to Burgos for the day. Enroute to 2013's gastronomic capital of Spain we stumbled upon the stunning mountain village of Pancorbo and stopped to climb up to a mirador perched on top of a rocky promontory overlooking the tiny town. We fell in love with this forgotten corner of Spain, the tumble-down stone houses, the barn full of sheep in the middle of the village, the tiny bakery where the baker came out to give us directions, hands covered in flour.   In Burgos we gorged on pinchos and then wandered around the cathedral - one of the most important in Spain. Beyond the normal dark catholic iconography, the colours, patterns and light were just breathtaking.
